Abstract:This paper addresses the structural safety of floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs) in extreme explosion accidents. Taking the TS011 topside module of an FPSO in the Libra oilfield as the research object, it introduces the analysis method for the structural strength of FPSO topside modules in explosion accidents. The study comprehensively considers the combined effects of explosion loads, gravity, live loads, and hull deformation loads in explosion accidents, establishing 32 load combination conditions with different explosion directions and assessing component safety margins using the utilization factor (UF). Results show that all components have UF values within the regulatory limit (UF≤1.0), with the maximum UF for beam components being 0.95 and 0.91 for pipe components. This verifies the structural strength under extreme explosion accidents and provides a reference for the structural strength calculation and analysis of ultra-deepwater FPSO modules in such scenarios.
